Bownr



We discovered this artist via MySpace and after hearing some of his more IDM orientated work we absolutely loved it and recognized the talent straight away. Here's his official biography:

"Bownr (Tomaz Kladnik) was born in year 1982 in the capital of Slovenia that's Ljubljana. As a little boy he went to music school and played piano for 4 long years. But he realized that he rather just listen to instrumental music so he dropout. The first party that he attended in 1998 made a great impact on him. He started to learn more about electronic music and two years later he made his first attempt in producing own music. At the beginning he was inspired by techno then trance and elektro but when he noticed progressive, drum'n'base and additionally intelligent dance music opened a whole new view on the atmosphere of elektronic music. His self-confidence grow and he started to experiment. In 2006 came his first CD out under the alias Sunsquare. The stile can't be described in just few words. His enthusiasm for different music stiles (from punk to Venetian Snares, Squarepusher...) is the cause for such dynamics. Broken rhythm with a sent of techno transfuse through melodies to broken beets again. Lately we can heart more IDM and minimal in his music with ambient intermediate pieces.

Bownr (Tomaz Kladnik) se je rodil leta 1982 v prestolnici Slovenije, v Ljubljani. Kot majhen fantic je hodil v glasbeno solo ter dolga 4 leta igral klavir, ampak ker instrumentalno glasbo rajsi poslusa kot pa izvaja sam, je vse opustil. Leta '98 je sel prvic na party in se tako seznanil z elektronsko glasbo. Dve leti kasneje je zacel prve poskuse ustvarjanja glasbe. Na zacetku ga je navdihoval techno, nato elektro in trance. Ko je spoznal progressive, drum'n'basse ter naknadno inteligentno plesno glasbo (IDM), so se mu odprli novi pogledi na elektronsko muzikalno atmosfero. Postajal je vedno bolj drzen in pricel z eksperimentiranjem. Leta 2006 je v samozalozbi izdal CD pod psevdonimom Sunsquare. Njegov slog je nemogoce opisati s parimi besedami. Vzrok, za tako dinamiko je gotovo to, da se navdusuje nad razlicnimi zanri in izvajalci. Od punka in vse do glavnih predstavnikov zalo..be WARP in drugih (Venetian Snares, Squarepusher…). V njegovi glasbi se pretaka mesanica predhodnih zvrsti. Zlomljeni ritmi s pridihom techna se skozi melodicne prehode preslikajo nazaj v d'n'b. Zadnje case se nagiba bolj k IDM-u in minimalu s prostorskimi (ambientalnimi) vlozki."
